The Show Must Go On: A Virtual Graduation

As things are shifting daily, the ways that we communicate, socialize, and connect are changing quickly. Digital and social platforms are growing even more quickly than before!

Given these changes, we want to share a special digital event with you that our agency recently produced for our client, Denny’s. Last Thursday, May 28, the 2020 Denny’s Hungry for EducationTM Virtual Commencement Celebration was aired to a private audience, and on Monday, distributed nationally.

The 90-minute event, hosted by Comedian Akintunde, and also featured Sybil Wilkes, the former long-time co-host of the Tom Joyner Morning Show, The Howard University “Showtime” Marching Band, and the Oakwood University Aeolians Choir. The program was designed to celebrate Denny’s 2019 Hungry for Education scholarship winners and 2020 graduates who shared their ideas on how to help combat childhood hunger. When we conceived this event, we never imagined that the country would witness live the murder of George Floyd or the protest that we’re seeing across the country, night after night.

This is certainly a time of both grief and strife, but it was a joy and an honor to be able to present a little bit of hope for grieving communities right now. We’re receiving great feedback from all of the partners involved and are proud to have been the executive producer of this event.
